The Northwestern Health Unit has reported nine new cases of COVID-19 across the district.

Five of the new cases are in the Sioux Lookout Health Hub and four of the new cases are in the Kenora Health Hub area.

Provincewide, 1,791 cases of COVID-19 were reported on Sunday.

Follow up with the persons involved and their contacts have started according to protocol. Anyone who is identified as a contact for these cases will be contacted directly.

NWHU recommends that everyone assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face. Anyone who has symptoms, or who has been in contact with a positive case, should self-isolate and get tested.

Today is the 27th straight day the NWHU has reported cases of COVID-19.
