Kenora's Jamie Bruce is following in the footsteps of Jeff "Gussy" Gustafson. Bruce placed third at the 2022 St. Croix Bassmaster Southern Open in Tennessee over the weekend. He caught his two-day limit weighing in at 34 pounds and 7 ounces. It was another Canadian who took first. Cooper Gallant reeled in 36 pounds one ounce for the top spot.

The Sioux Lookout Fire Department are this year's Battle of the Badges champions. The annual charity hockey tournament between the Fire Department and the Sioux Lookout OPP raised over $2,000, which will go towards a bursary in Sierra Hoppe's name. Sierra was active in the Sioux Lookout hockey community before passing away at the young age of 14 in late February.

The Most Valuable Player for the 2021-22 SIJHL regular season is Dryden GM Ice Dogs forward #9 Maxime Collette.  Max led the league with 81 points and 45 goals.  His 36 assists were tied for second in league scoring.  His four hat tricks on the season were also most in the league.  

The Edmonton Oilers won their fourth straight game with a 6-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks in the N-H-L. Connor McDavid had a goal and two assists to extend his point streak to 13 games

Auston Matthews leads Toronto into a matchup against Tampa Bay in the N-H-L today. Matthews scored his league-leading 51st goal in Toronto's last victory

The Calgary Flames embark on a road trip today seeking to end a three-game losing skid. They take on the L-A Kings in a clash of the top two teams in the Pacific Division.

Two of the most storied programs in U-S college basketball go head-to-head today for the N-C-double-A title. The top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks take on the underdog North Carolina Tar Heels. A win today in the New Orleans Superdome would make North Carolina only the second number-eight seed to win the tournament.

Canada is the lone unbeaten rink at the world men's curling championship in Las Vegas. Skip Brad Gushue will look to keep it that way when he takes on Italy's Joel Retornaz today. The Canadians lead the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record. Italy is 2-and-1.
