Staff with the Northwestern Health Unit are announcing another 14 new cases of COVID-19 across their catchment area.
Today’s cases include 11 in the Kenora area, 2 in the Emo area and 1 in the Sioux Lookout area. Follow-up with everyone involved has started, and anyone identified as a potential contact will be reached directly by public health staff.
Province-wide, 4,212 cases of COVID-19 were reported on Wednesday.
As of April 21, the NWHU is reporting a total of 54 active cases of COVID-19 in our region. There are currently 20 active cases in the Sioux Lookout Health Hub, 17 in the Kenora Health Hub, 13 in the Emo Health Hub, 3 in the Fort Frances Health Hub and 1 in the Dryden Health Hub.
Everyone is asked to assume COVID-19 is spreading in your community, and to continue following Ontario’s stay-at-home orders. Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms is asked to immediately self-isolate, get tested and remain in isolation until your test results are known.
Today marks the 58th straight day that at least one case of COVID-19 has been reported in the health unit catchment area.
