Residents and visitors in the district will see a return of bus service to Winnipeg and Thunder Bay starting next week. Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford was pleased to make the announcement earlier today.

"Outside of the twinning of the highway, this is probably one of the biggest pieces of northwestern Ontario opportunity that I wanted to bring to our region," he said this morning.

"We all know that in the vacuum of Greyhound pulling off the Trans-Canada --  in fact even when they were down to one bus a day, it was terrifically difficult for northwestern Ontario people to travel across the Thunder Bay or even to Winnipeg," Rickford added.

Rickford is looking forward to service from Ontario Northland beginning on Monday, and schedules are available through Ontario Northland.

Kasper had been running a bus service in the district, but it shut down last month citing a drop in revenues related to travel restrictions associated with the coronavirus outbreak.
