A 47-year-old Cambridge resident is facing careless driving charges after a collision on Highway 17 on Sunday.

The OPP’s investigation revealed that the westbound vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane and into another vehicle, with both drivers receiving treatment for minor injuries. The driver has since been charged, but their name was not released by the police.

The highway was closed in both directions between Upsala and Ignace for roughly five hours following the collision near Sowden Lake Road, with resources from the Ignace OPP, Dryden OPP, Northwest Emergency Medical Services and the Ignace Fire Department.
