The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has announced a positive case of COVID-19 impacting Open Roads Public School in Dryden.

The Northwestern Health Unit is working closely with the school board on next steps and all contacts of this case are being called and given instructions by public health.

In a prepared statement the school board said, "We are working with NWHU to make sure all potential risks are minimized. Due to our COVID-19 prevention strategies in place, those staff and students not contacted by public health are asked to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and can continue to attend school as usual."

Everyone should assume COVID-19 is in their community and practice preventive measures like:

  • physical distancing,
  • wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge,
  • good hand hygiene,
  • not touching their face and
  • staying home when sick

Anyone who has symptoms, or who has been in contact with a positive case, should get tested.
