The Northwestern Ontario Student Services Consortium says a number of safety measures will be in place for the return to school next month, to help keep students who take the school bus safe.
Staff say enhancing cleaning protocols will be in place for both students and drivers, students will have assigned seats on their school bus.
Drivers and students between Grade 4 to Grade 12 will be required to wear a mask, while a mask is still encouraged for students between Kindergarten and Grade 3.
The Northwestern Ontario Student Services Consortium adds that active forms of travel, like walking, biking and private transportation by parents or caregivers, are encouraged wherever possible to ease pressure on transportation demands.
Staff note that due to student cohorting and physical distancing requirements, families should be aware that these measures may result in changes to school bus service, including possible changes to student eligibility.
