Debra Assin, a band member of Grassy Narrows First Nation, a resident of Kenora, Ontario passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 with family by her side at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.

She was predeceased by her parents Dorothy and Bernard Assin, sister Donna, brother Peter, granddaughter Kailene and grandparents Sheba and Michael.

She is survived by her sons Lee and Peter, her daughter Dorothea, her brothers Alva and Ted (Ann), her sister Margaret(Ross), uncles Louis and Roy (Linda), her nieces and nephews Glenna, Evangeline, Loretta (Vincent), Serena (Carlos), Augusta, Marcella and Margaret, as well as her special friend Shirley. 

She is also survived by her grandchildren Merlin, Avril, Rhianna, Verna, Nitorian, Lukas, Shanaya, Alexander, Kinsley, Kylleon, Lylah, Chayce, Jefferson, Ainsley, Skylar, as well as many others too numerous to mention.
 
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.  A wake service will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 beginning at 10:00 am at Trappers Building Grassy Narrows, Ontario.  Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Trappers Building with burial to follow at Grassy Narrows First Nation Cemetery.
