The Dryden High School Eagles football team starts the season off strong as they recorded a big 20-8 win over the Fort Frances Muskies yesterday.
The win came behind touchdowns from Dom Morriseau, Peter Zilkalns, and Shalom Powell.
The Blue and Gold jumped out to an early lead before the Muskies countered with a rushing TD of their own and successfully completed a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.
Karson Bibeau intercepted a Fort Frances pass and Cale Wright, Mike Kusano, and Fynn Livingston put pressure on the Muskie attack all day. The game was a physical one and the rust of a year off showed on both teams. The student-athletes were enjoying competition once again, and this game will allow for more lessons the sport can teach to be passed on to all involved.
The next league game pits Fort Frances against the Beaver Brae Broncos on Sept 24, 2021, in Kenora. The Eagles will regroup and host Kenora on October 1st at 4 pm.
