The GM Ice Dogs are 2-0 after goalie Landon Pavlisin got the shut out for Dryden in their 3-0 win over the Cochrane Crunch last night night in Day 2 of the Dudley-Hewitt Cup at the Dryden Memorial Arena.

The first period didn’t see any scoring, but Ice Dogs’ Conner Mowatt impressed with two goals in the second. At 10:37, he was assisted by SIJHL MVP, Jacen Braco. In the final minute, it was great teamwork by Mowatt, Tristan Knott and Matthew Pitchenese that led to the second goal.

Woody Galbraith secured the with an empty-netter at 18:33 in the third.

The Dogs are without a loss and have secured a semifinal berth.

Elsewhere at the Central Junior A Championships yesterday, the Wellington Dukes took down the Thunder Bay North Stars 4-1.

The Dukes take on the Crunch this afternoon at 2:30 p.m., and the Dogs see their SIJHL rival North Stars at 7:30 p.m.

The first place finisher after round robin competition will advance right to Saturday’s championship game while the second and third place squads will meet in semifinal play Friday.
