An investigation into drug trafficking in the area has led to charges for two individuals, with one facing fentanyl trafficking charges.

The Fort Frances OPP says on January 5, their members joined the Treaty Three Police Service, OPP Northwest Emergency Response Team and the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau in executing a search warrant at a Fort Frances residence.

As a result of the investigation, officers found and seized a quantity of fentanyl, Canadian currency, evidence of drug trafficking and recovered stolen property was seized.

As a result, 26-year-old Tia Medicine is facing charges of:

- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking,
- 2 x Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon,
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000,
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon,
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000,

As well, 28-year-old Corbin Archie is facing charges of:

- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000,

Both of the accused have been released by way of an Undertaking to appear in court in February.
