The Township of Ignace is $46,680 richer, following an investment from the federal government. Kenora MP Bob Nault, on behalf of Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Amarjeet Sohi, announced the investment to support infrastructure planning in Ignace.

The funding will go towards and asset management road-map initiative, which aims to strengthen infrastructure planning and help municipalities make decisions about maintaining, replacing and repairing local infrastructure.

"By investing and supporting communities so they have the financial resources to develop their own infrastructure plan, the Township of Ignace will be in a better position to make the right long-term decisions as part of their strategic plan," said Nault. "This funding will help community planners anticipate their future needs while maintaining their infrastructure now and in the future."

The project is being delivered through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and funded by the Government of Canada Asset Management Program. Across Canada, 67 projects have been approved through the program, totalling just over $3.7 million.
