The Dryden GM Ice Dogs took over first place in the SIJHL standings with a 4-2 win over the Thunder Bay North Stars in Thunder Bay Friday night.
Sean Smith's second goal of the game with about six minutes remaining in the third stood as the game-winner.
McLaren Paulson, with his third of the season, and Max Roby, with his fourth, added the other markers for the Ice Dogs, who are one point ahead of the idle Sioux Lookout Bombers.
Magnus Pearson, with his first of the season, and E.J. Paddington, his fourth, scored for the Stars.
In Red Lake, Blake Hilterman scored with sixteen seconds left in overtime to give the Red Lake Miners a 3-2 win over the Wisconsin Wilderness.
Hilterman had sent the game into OT with a goal eight minutes into the third period.
Noah Tenney, with his third of the season, also scored for the Miners.
Koen Burkholder and Connor Corcoran replied for Wisconsin.
In Fort Frances, Ashton Sadaukas stopped 22 shots to earn his first shutout of the season as the Kam River Fighting Walleye blanked the Fort Frances Lakers 5-0.
Nickolas Fagnilli scored twice for the Walleye.
Jeremy Dunmore, Jet Mintenko and Liam Bell added the other goals.
