Residents are encouraged to wear green today in honour of the Logan Boulet Effect, in support of organ donor awareness/registration across Canada.
Boulet was a 21-year-old defenceman for the Humboldt Broncos, who succumbed to his injuries after the tragic crash on April 6, 2018. Of the 29 passengers, sixteen lost their lives and thirteen will all bear physical and emotional scars for life.
Boulet was a registered organ donor and his organs were donated and saved six lives. In the following weeks, the story inspired roughly 150,000 Canadians to become registered organ donors. This became known as the Logan Boulet Effect.
The day is to continue Logan’s legacy by inspiring Canadians to talk to their families and register as organ donors.
We are encouraged to wear green this April 7 as green is the official colour of organ/tissue donation, symbolizing the hope organ donors provide to patients in need.
