The Dryden Police Service have closed their investigation into a hit and run incident earlier this week, and a 22-year-old is facing charges.
Police say that the incident occured on Wednesday, August 15, at 9:41 p.m. near the intersection of Grand Trunk Avenue and First Street near the Hillcrest Motel. Witnesses say that they observed a 2003 grey Infinity Sedan travelling eastbound in the centre turn lane, when it collided with a vehicle turning left onto First Street trying to avoid the collision.
The suspect immediately fled the scene on foot. Although there was extensive property damage, no injuries were reported.
Today, police charged 22-year-old Winnipeg resident Shawn Clarence Steele with failing to stop at the scene of an accident under the criminal code, for leaving the scene of the collision. He was released on a Recognizance and will appear in Dryden court next month.
