Jeff Hynes is part of the vaccine distribution team with Ornge air ambulance service, and he talks about the task at hand.

"I think it's a great experience. It's very important to get on top of COVID. I think the only way to do that is through the vaccination program. So, as many as we can get out there, the better," he said Friday.

Ornge air ambulance crews are helping to distribute doses of the coronavirus vaccine to the Far North, where they'll be working with the Canadian Rangers to serve remote communities.

"Being in the community, it's just engaging with the local community members. Yesterday, it was a fantastic experience. Everybody was very welcoming. It was very informative," Hynes added.

Doses of the vaccine started arriving in the district last week, and the province hopes to have all the long-term care home residents vaccinated by Friday.
