The Dryden GM Ice Dogs are on a roll in the semi-finals of the Superior International Junior Hockey League and they're looking to clinch a berth into the finals tonight.
The team is up three games to none over the Lakers and will travel to Fort Frances tonight play game four in the best-of-seven series. The Lakers worked towards the semis as they beat the English River Miners 3 - 1 in the first round. The Ice Dogs, however, rested easy as they received a first-round bye finishing first in the SIJHL regular season at 40-8-6 with 88 points.
A win tonight will send the Ice Dogs to the finals against the winner of the semi-finals between the Thief River Falls Norskies and Thunder Bay North Stars. Currently, their series is tied at 1-1.
The two clubs last met in last year’s semifinals with the GM Ice Dogs sweeping the Lakers in four straight enroute to winning the league championship.Back in 2012, the Lakers swept the Ice Dogs in the semifinals while Dryden won in six games in both the 2010 and 2011 league semifinals.
Puck drop tonight is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena.
