Members of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs will be back at the Dryden Memorial Arena tonight in regular season action, for their first home game of the season.
The Ice Dogs will be taking on the Red Lake Miners at 7:30 p.m. It’s a rematch of two back-and-forth games in Red Lake earlier this month. The Ice Dogs took the first 6-1, before losing 7-3 the next night.
50 lucky fans were able to score tickets to tonight’s game, and it has now sold out. The SIJHL is only allowing 50 in-person fans each game, with socially-distant seating. Games will be streamed online on View Stub for a $7 admission fee.
All fans will be required to wear masks at all times, and will be expected to pass a COVID-19 screening at the main entrance.
The SIJHL originally had their pre-season schedule planned into the middle of December, but league leadership said they needed to begin their season before Christmas to avoid extending their schedule too far into the spring.
A full season schedule has not been released. The SIJHL’s two American teams, the Wisconsin Lumberjacks and the Thief River Falls Norskies, are not allowed to cross the border, and are expected to be excluded from the schedule.
