An Ignace man is facing is facing a manslaughter charge, following the sudden death of a Burlington man.

Members of the OPP Ignace Detachment are investigating the sudden death of Nathaniel Lacroix, a 37-year-old man from Burlington, which occurred on Dec. 6 on West Street in Ignace.

As a result of the investigation, Alfred Wanzuk, 48-years-old of Ignace  had been charged with Trafficking in a Schedule l substance - Opioid contrary to Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. 

On Wednesday, Wanzuk was re-arrested and charged with manslaughter contrary to section 236 (b) of the Criminal Code, and he is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 3, to answer to all outstanding charges.

Members of the North West Region Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
