ATTRUX, Joanne Carroll
June 25, 1942 - July 26, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Joanne peacefully at home.

Joanne was predeceased by her husband Victor, her son and his wife, Todd (Colleen), her daughter and son in law Marcelle (Atef), and her siblings Burt Hunnisett, Eileen Portier, Phyllis Kitt, Frank Creed, Philip Creed, Madeline Attrux and Bill Creed.

She is survived by her daughters, Michele, Kendell (Matt), and her surrogate daughter, Olive Novelli (Dave), her grandchildren, Jasmine, Sarah, Caleb and Anthony, her siblings Les Creed and Marcelle White, and her good friend Elaine Gauld.

Mom always took an interest in the well being of the members of her extended family. She would meet family on the street and recall when they last spoke and get the latest update on how they were. Later, she would have to explain to me who she was talking to and how I was related to them. The woman was a fount of knowledge.

She could never sit still and loved to redesign her home, grow her plants, and cook her family their favourite foods. During the last week of Joanne’s life, she was giving me instructions on what to cook for each family member, where to find the recipes and how I was to decorate the house for Christmas this year.

Mom married Dad in 1958 and spent the early part of her marriage raising her four children in Ear Falls. Once we were independent, she worked outside of the home at the Griffith mine as an oiler. She and Dad separated and when the mine closed she moved back to Kenora with Andy. They spent several years prospecting while setting up a home on Hilly Lake. Her last job before she retired was as a personal care worker for KACL.

We relied on her common sense positive view about life as she provided us with her support
and love.

Mom, thanks for always being true to yourself. Your family is going to miss you.  Thank you to Dr. Kowal who supported Mom so she could stay in her home.

Mom has been cremated and no service will be held as per her request.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Attrux family.
