The Canadian men's soccer team is scheduled to play Thursday in Vancouver, but that game is in serious doubt. The team refused to play Sunday's scheduled World Cup warm-up match against Panama amid a contract dispute between the players and Canada Soccer. The game was cancelled less than two hours before kickoff.

The Toronto Blue Jays open a three-game series against the Royals in Kansas City tonight. The Blue Jays have won eight of their last
10 games and now sit second in the American League East, seven-and-a-half games behind the New York Yankees. Ross Stripling takes the mound for Toronto, while Kansas City rolls out starter Daniel Lynch.

The Colorado Avalanche are up 3-0 in the N-H-L's Western Conference final with the Oilers and can complete the sweep tonight in Edmonton. Avs centre Nazem Kadri is out for at least the rest of the series after being injured on an illegal hit by Edmonton winger Evander Kane in Game Three. Kane received a one-game suspension for the infraction.

The Montreal Canadiens have signed veteran defenceman Chris Wideman to a two-year contract extension.  The 32-year-old Wideman had four goals and 27 points in 64 games for the Habs last season. Wideman has 20 goals and 52 assists in 245 career N-H-L games with the Ottawa Senators, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers and Montreal.
