Kenora’s Rosemary Pereira, is $754,910 richer after winning the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation’s 50/50 grand prize draw on Friday (April 29, 2022).
Foundation President, Glenn Craig broke the news to Pereira, and she honestly thought the call was a joke.
“Is this a joke?” she asked during the call. “Oh my god, thank you so much. I just went through a knee replacement and I’ve been in so much pain this past month and I thought I need something good in my life, thank you so much!”
When asked what she would do with the money she said she will probably share the winnings. Winning the grand prize was the furthest thing from her mind on Friday, she notes.
All proceeds from the draw will support the highest priority medical equipment needs at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
The next Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation’s 50/50 grand prize draw will take place on May 27, 2022.
Last June, Dryden resident Vic Zajarny had the winning ticket of June’s Thunder Bay 50/50 grand prize draw and taking home $481,085.
