Staff with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board are working to create personal protective equipment to help protect frontline workers across the region.

The board’s Learning Technology Department is using their 3D Printers to create flexible straps for facemasks. Dave Weaver is leading the initiative, and he’s been making a variety of sizes, designs and colours that can be attached to a facemask to take pressure off the ears.

Weaver is currently able to make 5 to 7 straps per machine, every two hours, depending on the size and design. The KPDSB says they will be distributing the straps to any organization who needs them.

Organizations and individuals in need are asked to contact Caryl Hron at caryl.hron@kpdsb.ca.
