It’s been a tough road for education staff, families and students to reach this point, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, but all of them are looking forward to two weeks off over the holidays.
Today is the last day for elementary and secondary students in 2020, and they won’t have to return to their classrooms, or their virtual learning platforms, until January 4, 2021.
If an elementary student wishes to switch between in-person and remote learning, families must notify the child’s school by January 18, 2021.
For the 2020-2021 school year in northwestern Ontario, the last day for elementary classes will be June 25. Families will receive their first Elementary Report on February 17, with the second report expected on their final day.
For secondary school students, the second quadmester will end on January 28, with exams set between January 25 and 28. Their Midterm Progress reports were issued earlier this week, and their final report will be issued on February 9.
Secondary students will begin their third quadmester on February 1, and their fourth will begin on April 19. Quadmester three exams are set for April 15 and 16, and quadmester four exams will take place between June 21 and 25.
Secondary students wishing to switch between in-person and remote learning are asked to notify their school by January 18, 2021 for the third quadmester, and by April 6 for the fourth quadmester.
The school year calendar is shared between the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board, Kenora Catholic District School Board, Northwest Catholic District School Board, Rainy River District School Board and the CSDC des Aurores boreales board.
