The Thunder Bay North Stars have climbed to within two points of the Sioux Lookout Bombers for third place in the SIJHL standings.
The North Stars earned a 2-1 overtime win over the Bombers last night.
With the win, Thunder Bay has 44 points and the Bombers 46, with the Bombers still having a game in hand.
Ty Bahm scored the lone goal of the game for the Bombers.
In girls' high school hockey, the Dryden Eagles downed the Sioux North Warriors 8-1.
Molly McMurrich and Caitlyn Sapay each had a pair of goals to lead the Eagles' offence.
The Eagles will finish the regular season tonight against the Fort Frances Muskies.
Because of Dryden’s win and the Muskies' victory last night against the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints, the Eagles finished first in the league.
The playoffs start next week with the Eagles taking on Sioux North and the Muskies playing the Saints in the best-of-three semi-finals.
