This weekend 3 Skate Keewatin star skaters and 3 Skate Keewatin Canskaters took to the ice for Stony on ice, for the first competition in almost 3 years. Star Skater Zi-Anne Ricard skated 4 events landing her 2 bronze and 2 silver. Miriam Pernsky skated in 3 events earning 2 silver and a bronze. Tessa Peliquin skated in 3 and got 3 Silver.  Can Skater Holly Novak came out with 2 gold and a silver. Saeryn Gordon-Planes received 2 gold and 1 silver, and Maria Mash earned the highest, landing herself 3 gold scores.

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs enter the SIJHL playoff tonight. They'll host the Fort Frances Lakers in a best-of-five series with the first two on home ice. Puck drop for tonight and tomorrow is 7:30 at the Dog Pound. 

Kenora swimming sensation Gabe Mastromatteo continues to excel in the pool. Mastromatteo shattered the USports record for the 100m Breaststroke with a time of 58.51 at the USports Swimming Championships. 

The Vancouver Canucks ended their four-game road trip on a losing note. Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice and added an assist as the St. Louis Blues dispatched Vancouver 4-1.

The Edmonton Oilers continue to roll on home ice. Ryan McLeod had two goals and an assist as Edmonton defeated the Arizona Coyotes 6-1 for its seventh straight home victory. The Coyotes have dropped six straight and were officially eliminated from playoff contention.

Tragic news from the NHL. The Ottawa Senators announced owner Eugene Melnyk has died at the age of 62 following an illness he faced with determination and courage.'' Melnyk purchased the franchise in 2003 and four years later it was in the Stanley Cup final before losing to Anaheim.

Pascal Siakam was a one-man show for the Toronto Raptors. He had a season-high 40 points and 13 rebounds as Toronto claimed a 115-112 home overtime win over the Boston Celtics. The Raptors have won nine of their last 11 games.
