With deep sorrow we would like to announce the passing of our beautiful Mom and Grandma, Marjorie JoAnn Baxter. She peacefully left this earth into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus, surrounded by her family, the evening of August 5th, 2023.
Marjorie was born in Kenora, Ontario on September 19, 1936. She is predeceased by her dear husband Norm, her Mom and Dad, Alma and Bob Tait, in-laws Kathleen and Ben Baxter, brothers-in-law Ronnie and Gordon, sister-in-law Joyce.
Left to cherish her memory are son David (Pam) - Michael and Paige (Simon), great granddaughter Georgiana, daughter JoAnn (Craig) - Brock (Nichole), Dane, Callie (Kyle), great grandchildren Paisley and Trey, son Bill (Natalie) - Stephen (Lexi), John (Taylor) - great grandchildren Aubrey, Mackinnon and Daxton. She is also survived by sisters Ruthie, Jean (Malcolm), brothers Bob (Trudy), Bill (Donna) and many nieces and nephews who were so dear to her. She will also be missed by her dear and special friend of over 60 years, Helen Ortlieb.
Marjorie worked at Sears for 18 years. She loved her job and all the interactions she had with all her customers. She enjoyed her daily walks to town, coffee at HoJoes, and visiting with her Engstrom friends at McDonalds. Listening to her hymns gave her great comfort. Marjorie was honest and humble. She had such a kind heart. We're grateful for the wisdom she instilled within each of us.
The two things that define our Mom and Grandma the most were her faith and the depth of love she had for her family. She had such a devoted and unconditional love for her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She lived her life longing for the blessed hope she had through Jesus Christ.
Mom considered herself blessed to see her grandchildren grow up and to be there for their special moments, graduations, birthdays, weddings and the arrival of her precious great grandchildren.
Mom and Grandma, you were so loved.
The family would like to thank the paramedics (Gabe and Sherry) for their caring and professionalism, Tracy Stasiuk, Charlene Mellilo, staff on 3 East, especially Allan, Tara, Alexis, Mellissa, Chelsea, and A.J. for all their care and compassion. Special thanks to Dr. Drake, Dr. Salter and Dr. Vaudry. Also thank you to Cory and staff at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre for their guidance, gentleness and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Marjorie to LWDH Foundation or Samaritans Purse.
There will be a private family graveside service officiated by Pastor John Boechat, Lakeside Baptist Church.
She always learned to watch for us,
Anxious if we were late,
In winter by the window,
In summer by the gate.
And though we mocked her tenderly,
Who had such foolish care,
The long way home would seem more safe
Because she waited there,
Her thoughts were all so full of us.
She never could forget!
And so we know that where she is
She must be watching yet.
Waiting til we come home to her,
Anxious if we are late-
Watching from Heaven's window,
Leaning on Heaven's gate.
