Mark Richards will become a Vice Principal of St. Thomas Aquinas High School starting in the 2021-2022 school year.
Mark will be joining Kylie Hughes as the incoming Principal and Travis Batters as Vice Principal.
Mark Richards has 11 years of experience as an educator and has served as secondary Vice Principal at St. Isidore Virtual School and a teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
“I am truly blessed to be able to work with a group of caring, skilled, hardworking, and passionate educators that work tirelessly to provide a Catholic education that is second to none for our diverse group of students to grow and thrive," said Richards in a prepared release.
"I am looking forward to contributing to the already established reputation of excellence in academics, athletics and arts programming in my new role as Vice Principal,” Richards continued.
Kylie Hughes, who will be taking over a Principal from Nicole Kurtz starting in the 2021-2022 school year, says the board is looking forward to having Mark join the administration team at St. Thomas Aquinas in the fall.
“His experience as both a substitute administrator along with his Vice Principalship at St. Isidore Virtual School will provide a smooth transition for Mark into his new role as Vice Principal at St. Thomas Aquinas High School," said Hughes.
"He is well-respected by students, staff and parents and has strong relationships throughout the school, community and the Church. Mark’s servant leadership, calm demeanour and strong organizational skills will be an asset to the school community,” added Hughes.
Nicole Kurtz, current Principal of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, will be moving into the Superintendent of Instructional Services role at the end of the 2021 - 2022 school year.
