The Edmonton Oilers are on the brink of elimination as they visit Los Angeles for Game 6 of their series with the Kings tonight.
Edmonton will be without star defenceman Darnell Nurse for the contest as he will be suspended for head-butting Kings forward Phillip Danault late in the second period of the Oilers' 5-4 overtime loss in Game 5. Turns out you can't do that.

The Toronto Maple Leafs can exorcise some playoff demons tonight. The Leafs are in Tampa tonight for Game 6 of their first-round
playoff series with the Lightning. Toronto holds a 3-2 series lead after a thrilling 4-3 win at home on Tuesday. The Maple Leafs haven't won a playoff series since 2004.

Elsewhere, The Hurricanes are also going into their game against the Bruins leading 3-2. And it could be the end of the line tonight for St. Louis as they're down a game under Minnesota, who leads 3-2.

Senators defenceman Thomas Chabot has been named Team Canada's captain for the upcoming men's hockey world championship. Canadiens right-winger Josh Anderson, New Jersey Devils defenceman Damon Severson as well as Jets centres Pierre-Luc Dubois and Adam Lowry will be Canada's alternate captains. Canada will play Germany tomorrow in Helsinki in its first game of the tournament.

The Canadian Football League and the CFL Players' Association will resume contract talks today. However, the union is now directing its membership to report to training camp so it could stage a legal strike, if required. The two sides met yesterday, their first gathering since the CFLPA rejected a league proposal last Thursday.
