Toronto Maple Leafs fans were on the edge of their seats last night..... but it was Brayden Point who scored on a rebound with 1:56 remaining in overtime to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs and force a Game 7 in the first-round playoff series between the Atlantic Division rivals. The winner-take-all contest goes tomorrow night at Scotiabank Arena.
Tyson Barrie scored the game-winner late in the third period as the Edmonton Oilers forced a Game 7 with the Los Angeles Kings with a 4-2 win. The two sides will decide things for good tomorrow at Rogers Place.
And the St. Louis Blues reached the second round of the playoffs with a 5-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild in Game 6 of their series.
The Calgary Flames are on the verge of advancing to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs and they'll look to finish the job tonight as they take on the Stars in Dallas. The Flames are entering Game 6 with momentum on their side having won the last two games of their series by a combined score of 7-2.
Elsewhere tonight in the N-H-L post-season, the Presidents' Trophy-winning Florida Panthers will look to end their series with the Capitals as they play Game 6 in Washington and the Pittsburgh Penguins will try to finish off the New York Rangers at home but could be without captain Sidney Crosby as they attempt to do it. Crosby absorbed a high hit from Jacob Trouba in Game 5 on Wednesday.
After a day off, the Toronto Blue Jays are back in action Friday evening as they open a three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays. Kevin Gausman is expected to get the start for the Jays, who have lost their last four games straight and seven of their last nine.
