St. Thomas Aquinas High School hosted over 100 athletes from the region for the Grade 7 and 8 All Catholic Badminton Championships this week, with students from Kenora, Dryden and Sioux Lookout. The teams of Quentin Thompson and Cade Peters, Maddyn Hughes and Addison Spak, and Jordyn Moen and Jacob Silver all won gold.

The Toronto Blue Jays continue their three-game homestand with the Seattle Mariners this evening. Jose Berrios gets the start for
Toronto. Bo Bichette and Matt Chapman hit homers in Toronto's 6-2 win in last night's series opener. Blue Jays second baseman Santiago Espinal enters today's game riding a 10-game hitting streak.

Round two of the N-H-L playoffs begins tonight. The Presidents' Trophy-winning Florida Panthers will host the two-time Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning in the Battle of Florida. The rivals split their four meetings during the regular season. Florida needed six games to dispatch Washington in the first round while the Lightning beat Toronto in seven games.

The Colorado Avalanche will host the St. Louis Blues in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinal. Colorado, the top seed in the
West, has been eliminated in Round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs in each of the last three seasons. Last season, the Avalanche swept the Blues in the first round.

The Maple Leafs say that forward Mitch Marner was unharmed after a carjacking in Toronto. The N-H-L team is holding its end-of-season availability today but Marner is not commenting on the incident. Marner was 10th in the N-H-L with 97 points this past season.
