Volunteers with Wabigoon’s annual Parenteau Brothers Memorial Fish Derby are still moving forward with this year’s events, planned for early September.

The live release walleye derby will be held on September 5 in Wabigoon, and anglers will be out on Wabigoon Lake. Check-ins and weigh-ins will be held at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Wabigoon Docks.

Staff note that this year’s fish fry has been cancelled due to COVID-19, and all anglers are asked to follow social distancing restrictions.

The annual fishing tournament is in memory of Willie and Conrad Parenteau. First place winners in the Adult category can win $1,000, and winners of the 12 and under Kids category can win $100.
