More First Nation communities in the region have implemented travel restrictions during the COVID-19 outbreak and Ontario’s State of Emergency.
Lac Seul First Nation has implemented a 24/7 Safety Point at the FMH Road Bridge. Only Lac Seul residents and essential staff will have access to the community.
There will be no vehicle access from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. daily, except for medical emergencies and exemptions. A 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew is in effect daily. Access measures are in place for hunters.
Washagamis Bay First Nation area cottagers are advised that walk-in applications for road passes are not being accepted. Your request may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. They note that due to high demand, permanent passes will not be available until next week.
Previous restrictions in place include check points, screened entry procedures and community-wide curfews in Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation, Shoal Lake #39 and Shoal Lake #40, Whitefish Bay First Nation, and more.
