The Dryden Eagles have been eliminated from the all-Ontario high school girls hockey championship in Stratford.

A 5-2 loss to the Lambton Lancers this morning left the Eagles in a tie for second in their pool with Lambton after the round-robin portion.

Because Lambton beat Dryden, it gets the nod to the quarterfinals.

The Lancers led 2-0 after the first period before Dryden's Tessa McMurrich snapped a high shot under the crossbar in the second to cut the lead in half.

Lambton restored its two-goal lead a few minutes later but was countered by the Eagles' Peyton Borton.

The Lancers added two more in the third to put the game out of reach.

Meantime in St. Catherines, the Fort Frances Muskies lost 2-0 to Lambton in their final round-robin game at the all-Ontario high school boys hockey championship.

The loss also officially eliminated the Muskies from reaching the quarterfinals.
