The Northwestern Health Unit is asking residents to stay in their home communities, and to not travel within the region if possible, unless it’s for essential purposes.
Individuals who travel outside of their community are urged to self-monitor for 14 days, and self-isolate if any symptoms develop. Anyone with symptoms should be tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
People who decide to travel outside of their community are asked to practice personal protective measures, including physical and social distancing, and proper hand hygiene.
Previously, residents were asked to self-monitor and self-isolate when travelling outside of the northwestern Ontario region. Earlier this week, Acting Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ian Gemmill, noted that travel within the region may have contributed to a COVID-19 case in Sioux Lookout.
