The Dryden GM Ice Dogs have a game on the road Friday against the Fort Frances Lakers, with puck drop set for 7:30 p.m. The Dogs are 1-4 to start the 2022-2023 season, after a 3-1 win against the defending SIJHL champion Red Lake Miners on October 2.

Over the weekend, Beaver Brae and St. Thomas Aquinas hosted the Kenora Invitational Volleyball Tournament. The two host teams made it to the finals, with the Broncos taking the nail-biting final match 15 to 13.

In Girls Basketball action at Dryden High School, the Eagles' Junior and Senior girls teams both beat the Broncos, with Beaver Brae taking both games in Boys Volleyball action. The Eagles will host Fort Frances next week.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Saints will play host to Ignace today in NorWOSSA court sports action. The Falcons will take on T.A in both Senior and Junior Girls' basketball, and Senior Boys' Volleyball. The Saints are coming off a sweep of the Rams last week in Red Lake.

On Monday, the Broncos’ golf team made a trip to Thunder Bay for the High School NWOSSAA Golf Championships. Hudson Favreau, Tallen Caron and Ben Norlock competed against 56 other golfers, and Norlock’s score of 73 was enough to place him in third.

Norlock will now go on to compete at the OFSAA Championships in London, ON next week.

The Toronto Blue Jays wrap up the regular season today with a doubleheader in Baltimore. The Jays, who have already locked up the top wild-card spot in the American League, return home Friday to open a best-of-three playoff series against the Seattle Mariners.

Winless in five pre-season NHL games, the Vancouver Canucks host the Edmonton Oilers tonight in Abbotsford. The Oilers hammered Canucks 7-2 on Monday in Edmonton. In other pre-season action, the Calgary Flames travel to Winnipeg to face the Jets.

The Montreal Canadiens have signed defenceman Logan Mailloux to a three-year entry-level contract.

The 19-year-old was chosen 31st overall in last year's NHL Entry Draft, after a sexual assault scandal in Sweden. He played 12 games with the Ontario Hockey League's London Knights last season and registered three goals and six assists.
