A 33-year-old Red Lake resident is facing charges of possessing drugs and explosives, after being busted for impaired driving in Ear Falls.

The Ear Falls OPP say officers from Red Lake and Ear Falls initiated a traffic stop on April 25 on Chestnut Street in Ear Falls, and determined that the driver of the vehicle had been consuming alcoholic beverages.

The OPP say the operator was placed under arrest and refused to provide breath samples while at the detachment. Police also say they seized methamphetamine and explosives through their investigation.

As a result of the investigation, 33-year-old Tyler Moncrief of Red Lake is facing charges of:

- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand,
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – methamphetamine,
- Explosives – Making or Possessing for unlawful purpose,
- Disobey stop sign – stop wrong place,
- Driving while under suspension,

He was released by way of an Undertaking for Red Lake court on June 16 to answer to the charges.

The OPP reminds the public to report any suspected impaired drivers by calling 911 in emergency situations, or by calling 1-888-310-1122 for complaints of impaired, aggressive or careless driving.
