An opposition bill to improve northern travel grants has reached second reading at Queen's Park. Thunder Bay-Atikokan member Judith Monteith-Farrell says the rates being offered by the province are too low, and she would like to consult with residents to set more realistic rates. The bill reached second reading earlier this month.

“Northerners have been clear that the existing Northern Health Travel Grant doesn’t work for them, offering reimbursement rates that are too far below the costs of travel, long wait times and an unfair expectation that people pay travel costs upfront," said the member last week.
