Patricia Gardens is pleased to announce that work is underway to improve access to supportive housing through community partnerships with Home and Community Care and other community partners. This is in response to a gap in assisted living identified by Dryden District Senior Services Inc.
Patricia Gardens Supportive Housing is an assisted living facility, supporting seniors with independent living. Waiting list access to the facility is managed by Home and Community Care. Seniors are required to meet program eligibility criteria for placement on the waiting list. Support services, both funded and fee for service, are available. Professional services such as nursing are delivered by visiting professionals. On site clinics are supported by the Dryden Area Family Health Team, Kenora District Services Board Community Paramedicine Program and Hearing Life. Individuals who are no longer able to manage in an independent living environment such as Patricia Gardens are assessed by Home and Community Care for long term care placement.
Levels of care at Patricia Gardens are coordinated and managed on site. Historically the facility was a market rent building, however with the changing community needs, there is an increasing number of seniors who need financial support in order to afford a home. In response community partnership has increased access to the facility by moving towards a blended model which will include both Market Rent units and Rent Supplement units, provided by the Kenora District Services Board, it has been necessary to keep units vacant during the transition. Intake for the vacant units has started and will continue until the units have been filled. This change will not affect current tenancies.
Service in Patricia Gardens will continue to be managed in accordance with Ministry of Health - Long Term Care requirements. Seniors may contact Patricia Gardens for information to assist them in navigating access to assisted living.
