Ross Clifford Hoegi
November 27, 1932 - July 6, 2023

It is with sorrow we announce the passing of our father Ross Clifford Hoegi on Thursday July 6th, 2023 at the age of 90.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters Lynne (Ross) and Lisa (Don), grandchildren and great grandchildren, Kailee Foidart (Stephane and Shay), Ryan Matischuk (Carley and baby M to be born any day), John Whiting (Laney, Senica, Brayden, Jolan, Rayah), James Whiting (Alyssa, Maya, Elora-Lynn, Lyncoln), Tracy Prefontaine (sons Mason and Matthew) and Shawn Hoegi. His only surviving sibling, Delores Martin of Keewatin, along with many nieces and nephews. The last few years of his life he spent with his companion, Phyllis Looney from Florida.

He was predeceased by his wife Ann Elizabeth (2013), son Rodney Ross (2022), son-in-law Don Oldford (2018), niece Deborah Bouchard (2023), sister Geraldine Powell (2001) and brother-In-law Dick Powell (1992).

He was born in Dinsmore, Saskatchewan and spent most of his youth in Thunder Bay, ON where he became a Welder and Fabricator. He met and married the love of his life, Ann Elizabeth White in 1953 when they started their life journey. They travelled to many places seeking work, with a 29’ mobile home in tow. He found employment in his travels at many Oil Refineries. He worked on the build of #10 Paper Machine at Mando Paper Co. in Kenora while raising their 2 children, Rodney and Lynne. He later worked for Trans Canada Pipelines in Burstall, SK and Kenora where Lisa was born. He purchased the Rabbit Lake Trailer Park, Butches Septic Tank Cleaning and finally launched a barge to pump Septic Tanks on Lake of the Woods.

Ross lived an active and memorable life, providing septic tank services for the LOWISSA Sailing Regatta for years, enjoying 30 plus winters in Florida, and cruising LOTW on his Bayliner Boat. He was a proud Shriner and Mason member. Some of his most enjoyable times was when he flew one of his 3 airplanes that he owned during his lifetime. He still talked about the many adventures he had until his final days.

Our Dad was a strong-willed and proud man who cared for his family and left this world in control of his own destiny.

We would like to thank the Doctors, nurses, support staff and Palliative Care staff at Lake of the Woods District Hospital for making our Dad more comfortable in his final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ross may be made to the LOTW District Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 20th, 2023 at 11:00 am at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre with Pastor Cathy Giroux officiating. A light lunch will be served after the service.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.brownfuneralhomekenora.com for the Hoegi family.
