The Beaver Brae Broncos and the DHS Eagles are set to clash in Dryden today, for a chance to win $1,500 in equipment from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The CFL team is sponsoring today's game as their Game of the Week, with the winner taking $1,500 in equipment and the loser taking $500, with proceeds from the Bombers' 50/50 draws. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m. at Harry McMaster Field.

Sioux Lookout hosted 72 NorWOSSA golfers yesterday, where Fort Frances teams 1 and 2 came in first and second. St. Thomas Aquinas took third where Carson Maffey finished 2nd overall shooting an 80, and Carter Peters finished 3rd overall shooting an 83. Teams will travel to Fort on Tuesday for week three.

The regular season of the SIJHL kicks off this weekend when the Dryden GM Ice Dogs host the Kam River Fighting Walleye in a two-game series. Puck drop for tonight and tomorrow is 7:30.

Dryden GM has confirmed they have once again sponsored the team for the upcoming season, continuing their strong partnership.

The Toronto Blue Jays continue a four-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays today in Florida. Mitch White is pencilled in to get the start for Toronto, while the Rays are set to go with Jeffrey Springs.

The Rays thumped the Jays 10-5 in yesterday's opener to move a game back of Toronto in the race for the top American League wild-card spot.

The 16th week of the CFL season starts in Montreal with a matchup between the Alouettes and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Both teams are battling for an East Division playoff spot. The Alouettes are second in the division at 5-and-7, while the Tiger-Cats are 4-and-9.
