Seven families in Sioux Lookout are without homes after their apartment building burnt down last night.

Officers with the Sioux Lookout OPP say they responded to the structure fire, along with members of the Sioux Lookout Volunteer Fire Department and North West Emergency Medical Services paramedics, around 6 p.m. on May 5.

All tenants of the seven-unit building on Prince Street made it out safely, and the fire wasn’t able to spread to neighbouring properties due to the efforts of the fire department.

Members of the Sioux Lookout OPP and Office of the Fire Marshal are continuing to investigate the cause of the blaze. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
