The Superior International Junior Hockey League Board of Governors has announced that Sioux Lookout will get back into the SIJHL for the start of the 2022-23 season. The application from Matt Cairns, Austen Hoey, Joe Cassidy and Christine Hoey received unanimous approval from the board.

With the addition of Sioux Lookout, the SIJHL will be 8 teams strong pending approval from Hockey Northwestern Ontario.

Sioux Lookout will join the Dryden GM Ice Dogs, Fort Frances Lakers, Kam River Fighting Walleye, Red Lake Miners, Thief River Falls Norskies, Thunder Bay North Stars and the Wisconsin Lumberjacks.

The last full season for the Sioux Lookout Flyers in the SIJHL was 2011-12. The 2021-22 hockey season marks the SIJHL’s 20 anniversary year.
