Kenora's Jeff "Gussy" Gustafson had a decent weekend as he finished in 24th place at the 2022 Simms Bassmaster Elite at Lake Fork in Texas. Gussy caught 15 fish over three days for a total weight of 63 lbs 3 ozs, including an eight-pound bass on Day Three which won him "Big Bass of the Day." Gustafson is now off to the 2022 Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Pickwick Lake in Tennessee which begins on June 2.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are resting easy today after sweeping the Battle of Florida with a 2-0 win at home last night against the Florida Panthers. The Lightning will play the winner of the Carolina Hurricanes-New York Rangers series, which Carolina leads 2-1 with Game 4 tonight at Madison Square Garden.
Nazem Kadri scored three goals, including two during a four-goal second period, and the Colorado Avalanche beat the St. Louis Blues 6-3 on Monday night to take a 3-1 lead in their Western Conference series. Kadri's outburst came after he received racist death threats on social media following a first-period collision with Blues goalie Jordan Binnington in Game 3 on Saturday. Colorado can clinch the series with a win at home tomorrow night.
The Battle of Alberta continues tonight in Edmonton with the host Oilers looking to take a 3-1 lead in the N-H-L best-of-seven series. The Calgary Flames acknowledge that if they can't stop Connor McDavid and his offensive linemates it could be a shorter-than-expected series. The Oilers took at 4-1 victory on Sunday night over the Flames to make the series 2-1.
The Toronto Blue Jays will be looking to bounce back in St. Louis tonight after a tough 7-3 loss to the Cards. Paul Goldschmidt hit a walk-off grand slam in the 10th inning Monday night, lifting the Cards to the Major League victory. The Blue Jays continue to struggle at the plate, especially with runners in scoring position.
