Leadership with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board says two students have tested positive at Open Roads School and as a result, the school has closed two classrooms/cohorts.

The board is working with the Northwestern Health Unit to minimize any potential risk and says those families who have not been contacted directly by school staff on the evening of March 4, 2021, are deemed to be at no additional risk and can continue to attend school as usual.

Open Roads will not be classified as an "outbreak" because these cases do not meet the criteria for being deemed an outbreak as there is currently no evidence of spread within the school setting.

The positive cases are being followed up with by the Northwestern Health Unit and all contacts of the case are being called and given instructions by public health.

School community members are reminded to take the Government of Ontario's school screening tool before attending the school daily.
