Union spokesman Smokey Thomas just shakes his head.

"I find it marvellous that the LCBO has to cut and save money, when they made more than $2 billion in profit last year," he said, during a town hall meeting in Kenora.

Thomas is especially curious as the government gets ready to sell marijuana through a spinoff of the LCBO, known as the Ontario Cannabis Store.

"I sure would like you to start pounding on these guys to find out just what it is they do plan for the LCBO, and what they do plan for pot in the stores," asked Pat Brett, who works in the Keewatin outlet.

For some time now, LCBO union members have been concerned about cuts made by management, which led to a strike last summer. This year, staff are worried about how they may fit into plans for the new cannabis stores.
