A Whitefish Bay resident is facing a number of charges after shooting and killing a dog. 

Lac Seul Police were dispatched to a report of a firearm being discharged on Sunday, January 9 near a residence in Whitefish Bay. When police arrived, they found that someone had used a high-caliber rifle to shoot and kill a dog in a residential area. No injuries were sustained to the occupants of the residence. 

As a result of the investigation, 45-year-old Derek Kenny of Whitefish Bay, ON has been charged with;

• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm S. 91(1) of the Criminal Code
• Careless use of a firearm S. 86(1) of the Criminal Code
• Careless storage of Firearm S. 86(1) of the Criminal Code
• Killing or injuring animals S. 445(1)(a)) of the Criminal Code

Derek Kenny was released from custody and is scheduled to appear on February 23, 2022, in Lac Seul Court to answer the charges.
