Heather Lee is the president and CEO at the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre, which oversees the William George extended care facility, and she's happy to pass along some good news for residents, who are now allowed out for day trips and overnight visits.

"Absolutely, I think this has been a very difficult time for everyone. While we're very optimistic, we're also very cautious," she said.

The decision follows direction from the province, based on advice from the chief medical officer of health for Ontario.

"We do know there's a potential for Wave 2, and we have seen the numbers going up in the province. So, we just want to be extra cautious, as we do this slowly," Lee continued.

Many residents of retirement homes or long-term care homes have been isolated since the spring, due to the pandemic.

Currently, those wishing to schedule on-site visits, off-site visits or overnight stays must schedule these in advance.
