The Winnipeg Jets' Captain isn't going anywhere for the next five years. Blake Wheeler has signed a five year, $41.25 million contract with an average annual value of $8.25 million per year.

Wheeler had a career-high 91 points last season, and represented the Jets in the All Star Game. He was tied for the league-lead with 68 assists, and had 23 goals in 81 games.

The 32-year-old has been the Jets’ captain for two years, after taking over for Andrew Ladd. He has spent eight seasons with the organization, and is the franchise leader in assists and second in all-time scoring.
