Last month's bear market has certainly taken a toll on companies in the area. Domtar closed at about $48 dollars New year's Eve, down from $71 in mid-September.
Shares in Weyerhaeuser have also been taking a tumble. They closed at about $22 dollars Monday, down from a high of just over $38 in June.
New Gold mining stock sold for just over $1, down from more than $4 dollars a year ago. Resolute is at about $10 a share, half what it was earlier this year.
The Toronto exchange fell nearly a thousand points last month. The TSX Composite opened December at 15,274.98 but closed at 14,322.86 for a difference of 952.12 points.
In New York, the Dow Jones was at 25,826.43 in November, before it fell 4,034.23 to 21,792.20 and recovered from the roller coaster ride to reach 23,062.40 by the end of the month of December. That's still a difference of 2,764.03 within a matter of a few weeks.
